I had to work early this morning and missed that. I read some quotes online from the interview. Being a GM is a tough job and that means tough decisions. This just looks bad because of the timing. That's the only thing I was confused about why release him now? I'm not sure if he lands on a MLB club this season or not. Does he really want to move somewhere else and pitch?

I'm listening to Tom Glavine on http://www.790thezone.com right now. He was given two choices: Spend the rest off the field in the dugout on the DL or retire.

He's gotten offers from several teams to be a consultant, but the Braves are not one of them. Basically he was put out on the curb. This will bite them down the road.

Tom Glavine meant a lot to the Atlanta Braves. He was one of the few remaining symbols of a team that made history in the 90's and will not easily be replaced. With that said this move may be a step in the right direction as far as winning goes, and isnt that Frank Wren's Job? Was it a bad PR move, yes but GM's dont get judged on being nice, Wren is feeling the presure of following the greatest GM of all time, and is ready to start winning.

I agree. To be completely honest I never even thought about Kawakami in the bullpen and Medlen in the rotation. I like the thought of that. But it will be good to see Hanson in the bigs. Thanks for the comment!

FINALLY, we have a serviceable (to say the least) outfielder. McLouth will make an immediate impact and we should see our Runs increase over the next few weeks. I'm glad we finally pulled Hanson up, but am disappointed to see Medlen moved to the bullpen. It seemed like he was really coming along. Maybe Kawakami will end up as a middle reliever and Medlen can get back to the starting rotation.

I'm sad to see Glavine go, but relieved at the same time. It would have been brutal to watch him come in and pitch like a 42 year old. Thanks for the memories Tom.
